“Conservation isn’t a tourist activity. It’s responsibility, action, and understanding

and you can be part of it.”

Beyond the Selfie:
Real Conservation in Action

Many volunteer programs sell the romantic image of Africa: golden sunsets, wildlife selfies, and short-term engagement that leaves little lasting impact.

Tracks of Purpose goes further. Volunteering and working holidays here aren’t about taking pictures; they’re about taking responsibility. Work alongside rangers, veterinarians, and researchers on hands-on conservation: supporting anti-poaching patrols, local partners, wildlife relocations, and habitat management.

Experience more than just the South African bush and witness the beauty of this country firsthand.

Every task you perform contributes to real, lasting change; not just a temporary experience.

Choose your experience:

Both experiences give you an unfiltered look behind the scenes of real conservation.

You’ll witness the impact of every action, feel the responsibility, and connect with a dedicated community working tirelessly to protect wildlife and habitats. This is (hands-on) learning, genuine adventure, and meaningful contribution. Far beyond a photo opportunity.

Volunteer Project: Roll up your sleeves and work alongside our rangers and veterinarians. Perfect for adventurous solo travelers or anyone ready to get hands-on, you’ll help with relocations, monitoring, habitat management, and daily conservation tasks: experiencing firsthand the challenges and rewards of protecting wildlife.

Working Holiday: Immerse yourself in the bush, observe conservation in action, and participate in meaningful projects with less physical labor. Ideal for those who want to contribute and learn, but prefer a gentler pace and a comfortable stay, all while appreciating the raw beauty and complexity of South Africa’s ecosystems.
